After a video went viral after being surfaced on social media, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sharmila Faruqui has filed a legal complaint against TV show host Nadia Khan for humiliating and disrespecting her mother via sarcastic remarks in a viral video.
Nadia Khan has faced a severe backlash on social media for mocking makeup and sense of style of Sharmila Faruqui’s mother Anisa Faruqui in a viral video which she filmed in Saboor Aly and Ali Ansari’s mehndi event.
After the video was uploaded on an Instagram page named Centre Stage, Sharmila Faruqui expressed outrage over the mockery of her mother and threatened to lodge a complaint to the cybercrime authorities.
Soon after Sharmila’s cybercrime threat, Nadia Khan deleted the video from her social media accounts in which she was questioning Anisa’s jewellery, makeup and dressing sense.
Sharmila Faruqui filed a complaint against Nadia Khan at Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime head office on Thursday (yesterday).

Prior to lodging the complaint, the politician wrote on Instagram, “I, for one will never sit back and allow any person to ridicule/mock any woman may it be my mother or yours. It’s unfortunate to see a woman gibe at another woman, that too an elderly lady who lost her husband 95 days ago. I will be personally going and filing the complaint at the FIA cyber Crime head office at 3 pm today,”
She added, “To all my well wishers expecting me to take a gibe at Nadia Khan’s personal polygamy and professional shenanigans, I won’t be doing that, simply because that’s not how I have been brought up by my parents. I respect every individual’s personal struggle and private & professional life and would not stoop to the low levels most people do. Will take it up as per law and leave the rest to God. Karma takes its own course. I rest case. God is great.”
Sharmila’s move to lodge a legal complaint against Nadia Khan received a lot of reactions.
TV anchor and journalist Jasmeen Manzoor wrote, “How sad and unfortunate what is wrong with these women. No respect for anyone not even mothers.”

Nadia Khan’s response
The TV host-cum-actor Nadia Khan has refused to tender an apology in a video she uploaded on her YouTube channel and insisted she had neither mocked nor even thought to disrespect Sharmila’s mother for her appearance in her video.
The actor said that politicians have fond of becoming headlines. Although, Nadia Khan criticised Sharmila Faruqui for using a ‘shameless’ word for her and termed it an actual crime.
She claimed that Sharmila Faruqui could have phoned her to remove the video which she did not like then she would be welcomed.
