SHC reserves verdict in Dua Zehra case

The SHC has reserved judgment in Dua Zehra case and Justice Junaid Ghaffar said that the verdict of the case will be announced today.

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has reserved judgment in Dua Zehra case and Justice Junaid Ghaffar said that the verdict of the case will be announced today.

While reserving verdict in the Dua Zehra recovery case, the Sindh High Court has remarked that we have to look into the decisions of the Federal Shariah Court and the decisions of the Supreme Court (SC).

A two-member bench of the Sindh High Court heard the Dua Zehra case. Police produced Dua Zehra and her husband Zaheer Ahmed in the court, whereas, her medical report was also submitted.

On this occasion, Advocate General Sindh told the court that according to the medical report, the girl is 17-years-old.

The lawyer of the petitioner said that according to all the documents, the girl is 14 years old. Earlier, the court had ordered her to undergo medical treatment at the last hearing. We have to produce some documents.

Justice Junaid Ghaffar remarked that all these documents will be presented in the trial court.

The advocate general said that the matter should be disposed of and the matter should be sent to the trial court. A challan has also been submitted in the trial court. Justice Junaid Ghaffar said that the girl will be produced before the Lahore High Court (LHC) again.

The advocate general said that the girl has to be produced in the Lahore High Court tomorrow and she should be allowed to do so. On this the court said that it is okay to go there and present the children.

Earlier, the court asked Zehra if she wanted to meet her parents.

Dua Zehra rejected to her parents, however the court allowed the parents to meet in the judge’s chambers. The judge told her, “Keep calm, nothing will happen.”

When the hearing resumed after the meeting, Justice Amjad Sahito said that the proceeding has been completed and this matter will be presented before a trial court.
