Sherani Joins Bandwagon, Questions JUI-F Chief, PDM
The statement from a senior party leader of JUI-F has come like a terrible blow for the party whose head is leading the opposition’s alliance
Fissures emerged after Jamiat-e-Ulema (JUI-F) senior party leader Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani raised questions on the alliance of the opposition parties, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), and alleged JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman of being ‘selected’.
The statement from a senior party leader of JUI-F has come like a terrible blow for the party whose head is leading the opposition’s alliance.
JUI-F Chief Fazlur Rehman had been repeatedly calling the Prime Minister Imran Khan a ‘puppet’ and ‘selected’ of the establishment chosen to run the country.
However, the path to forcibly take resignations from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has been bumpy for two major parties including JUI-F and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) as voices against the goals of the PDM have started to resonate from inside their camps.
PDM is already seen divided over en masse resignations from the National Assembly (NA) and the fresh bruise on its objectives such as government-ousting are being questioned by senior leaders of both parties in the alliance.
Notably, Maulana Sherani isn’t the first member of JUI-F to raise questions on the aims of PDM but earlier, JUI-F Spokesperson Hafiz Hussain Ahmed had bear the brunt of speaking against PML-N Head Nawaz Sharif for his statements against the Pakistan army.
JUI-F’s top brass would meet on December 24 to decide the fate of Maulana Sherani after he called his party head as ‘selected’.
The development has fortified the position of the PTI government which is pleased to see rifts within the ranks of the major parties part of the alliance.
