Show-cause notice to Lt Gen Faiz Hameed: Asad Toor’s story turns out to be fake
DG-ISPR has refuted a YouTuber Asad Toor’s story regarding the serving of a show-cause notice to Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed.
The Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar has refuted a YouTuber Asad Toor’s story circulating on social media regarding the serving of a show-cause notice to the former ISI chief and current Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed.
Babar Iftikhar termed the report ‘absolutely false’ and a ‘fake’ story as no such show-notice was served to Lt Gen Faiz Hameed.
Asad Toor had claimed in its vlog that General Faiz was served a show-cause notice by the army chief for either meeting the prime minister a few days ago or for making a telephone call to Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) top leader Pervaiz Elahi.
He also claimed that he had confirmed and crossed-checked his information from three different sources. Toor’s vlog is being widely circulated in political and media circles.
Of late, there has been widespread speculation about the role of Gen Faiz. However, there has been nothing official or concrete about his alleged activities, according to a report of The News.
The DG-ISPR termed it “speculation” and insisted that the institution was neither involved in any politics nor could any individual belonging to the armed forces do what was being speculated about him, according to The News.
Recently, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, without naming General Faiz, had alleged in a press statement that an individual, recently posted to Peshawar, contacted some PML-N MNAs to foil the proposed no-trust move against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
A few days after Marriyum Aurangzeb’s statement, Maulana Fazlur Rehman was quoted as having told a group of media persons that ‘the institution’ had become neutral. He added that the institution had taken notice of the individual act mentioned in the PML-N press release.
The DG-ISPR had refuted the statement and termed it as speculation.
