Sialkot Tragedy, Preliminary Report Submitted to PM and CM Punjab
According to report submitted by investigation team, factory workers killed the manager under pretext of removing religious sticker
The Punjab government has submitted the preliminary investigation report of the murder and cremation of a foreign manager by hundreds of angry people in Sialkot yesterday to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Usman Bazdar.
A preliminary report has been compiled on the tragic incident of killing and cremation of a foreign Sri Lankan manager in Sialkot district of Punjab province on charges of religious blasphemy, which has been formally submitted to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.

According to the report, the matter started with cleanliness while some time before the incident, the workers were fired for breaking discipline. The workers were already angry at the foreign manager’s strict discipline and hiring. A delegation of foreign companies was to visit the factory. The manager told the workers that all the machines should be cleaned.
There was a religious sticker on the machine of the factory on which the manager asked the staff to remove the sticker due to the visit of foreigners. However, when the employees refused, the manager removed the sticker himself. In general, the workers used the stickers as an excuse to use violence because the stickers had religious text written on them. The report also states that the factory owners disappeared at the time of the incident.
Sources said quoting the Sialkot tragedy that the Punjab government’s preliminary investigation report submitted to Prime Minister Imran Khan said that so far 112 accused, including the main accused in the incident, have been arrested. According to the report, the instigators of Sialkot have also been arrested and shifted to an unknown location for further investigation.
