Sindh Assembly passed resolution against Supreme Court decisions

Saeed Ghani says will resign from the assembly to save people's homes.

The Sindh Assembly passed a resolution against the Supreme Court’s decision to demolish illegal buildings, including Nasla Tower. Saeed Ghani, the provincial minister said that if he had to leave the ministry, he will quit but will not demolish people’s homes.

Speaking in the Sindh Assembly, Saeed Ghani said that he would not demolish homes of citizens and is ready to leave the assembly. He added there is a one way that we call in army, take up arms and demolish the buildings, but we will not do so. The government should make a law and demolish people’s homes according to this law. Like if someone made a house in the middle of the drain, it could be demolished, if someone built a house above the water line, it would be razed. But we can make a legislation that can save roof on the heads of millions of people.

He said that the resolution should also include that government officials and politicians involved in illegal construction should also be punished whether it is Mustafa Kamal or Saeed Ghani.

Saeed Ghani said because of our failure and our wrong decisions people who had settled cannot be removed on the order of Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court charged me with the contempt of court, but I cannot take the responsibility of demolishing homes of millions of people, he said. I have the option to resign. If the houses are broken, I will leave the assembly. If I can’t save the roofs of my people, I have no right to represent them in assembly, the provincial minister said.
