Sindh Govt Refuses to Take Action Against Illegal Constructions, Bring New Ordinance
Governor Sindh Imran Ismail said legal aspects of Sindh government's ordinance will be reviewed and final decision will be taken.
Following in the footsteps of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Sindh High Court has demolished the illegally constructed part of Mecca Terrace and demanded a report within a week. On the other hand, Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab has said that The Sindh govt is bringing an ordinance.
Sindh High Court Judge Justice Zafar Rajput heard the Mecca Terrace case. The court adjourned the hearing for a week, ordering the builder of the Mecca Terrace to pay for the relocation of the residents and arrange the house.

During the hearing, on the order of the court, the lawyer SBCA presented the names of the officers involved in the illegal construction of Mecca Terrace. The names presented by the lawyer included Assistant Director Land, Senior Inspectors, Inspectors and Superintendents.
The SBCA lawyer said that on the order of the court, the SBCA has initiated departmental action against 16 of its officers. The lawyer said that the posting of the said officers took place during the construction of Mecca Terrace.
Asked by Justice Zafar Rajput, the SBCA lawyer said that four residents of Mecca Terrace had vacated the flats. The education of the children of other residents is being affected, so they did not move.

The court ordered the SBCA lawyer to go and inform the occupants that the flat would have to be vacated. The court demolished the illegal part of Mecca Terrace at the next hearing and demanded a report.
In a recent press conference, Administrator KMC and Sindh Government Spokesman and Sindh Legal Adviser Murtaza Wahab said that Sindh government has prepared an ordinance to stop anti-encroachment operation in the province. The proposed ordinance has been sent to Sindh Governor for approval.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that a commission would be set up under the ordinance to determine which non-commercial structures should not be demolished.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the Sindh government has said many times that it is the duty of the government to protect the lives and property of the citizens and that is why laws are being made. The houses on Khalid Bin Waleed Road were demolished and huge buildings were constructed.
He said that action should be taken against the structures which are on a drain but such buildings which have been constructed and are affecting the flow of water should not be acted upon. Barrister Murtaza Wahab, who is holding a press conference at Nusla Tower, fled the assembly.
In a civil reply, he said that the land of Nasla Tower was not allotted by Sindh government. Sindhi Muslim Society does not work under us. This property was commercialized in the year 2007. At that time Mustafa Kamal was the Nazim of the city.
Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail while talking to a private TV channel said that the proposed ordinance of Sindh government will heat up the market of corruption. Whose land to leave and who not, a new debate will break out and then there will be corruption when fines are imposed.
