Six-storey building tilts in Karachi’s Lyari neighbourhood

Six-storey building tilts Lyari

A six-storey residential building located on Lyari’s Yaqoob Shera Road suddenly titled after which it was vacated.

Officials of civic agencies and police reached the area. The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officials after examination declared the multi-storey building dangerous.

Police officials said the building belongs to a builder named Gul Amin. They cordoned off the area to prevent any untoward incident.

The police officials said that the building would be demolished. They said that in view of danger residents of six nearby houses had been directed to move to safer places.

On the other hand, residents said that the foundation of the building was weak and it tilted to one side soon after its construction.

They said that they protested when the building was under construction as poor material was used in construction.

The Sindh Building Control Authority officials had earlier in June sealed a five-storey building in Allah Wala Town in Korangi neighbourhood after it tilted to one side.

Last year, a building was collapsed in Lyari’s Khada Market, resulting in the death of a woman and a child.
