Supreme Court Orders Restoration of Park on Madina Mosque Site in One Week

Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed strongly reprimanded the administrator DMC East for not knowing the exact boundaries of Tariq Road.

Hearing the construction case of Madina Mosque near Tariq Road in the Supreme Court Karachi Registry, the Supreme Court ordered to restore the park on the site of Madina Masjid within a week.

The Madina Mosque case on Tariq Road was heard by a two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed. During the hearing, at the request of the Chief Justice, Administrator DMC East said that a mosque has been built on the park land.

The Chief Justice then asked why you do not take action against the illegal mosque. Administrator East said that if the court orders, action will be taken.

Expressing anger, Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed said, “You are surprised to see the people. It is your job and we are waiting for our order. Why have you been seated?”

Justice Qazi Amin said that these are not places of worship, not places of residence, not electricity bill or any other bill, these are the places in Karachi where illegal constructions have been done and no one is going to ask.

Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed reprimanded Administrator DMC East for not knowing the exact boundaries of Tariq Road and ordered to go and see what has happened to PECHS, what was Karachi like forty years ago and what has happened now. You guys come to sit in the offices, drink tea, gossip and go home. You have no work. Go and see, Bahria has become a bridge behind the town building.

Chief Justice said who is doing everything? What has happened to this city? You have done irreparable damage. In order to fix it, you have to blast it. This city will be rebuilt like Germany, Japan, Poland.

Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that eight storey buildings have been constructed at two hundred yards, earthquake will come, everything will end, crores of people will die, if you survive, you will have blood of all people. What do you guys care about, do you think I will retire, go out and enjoy life as everyone else does, I will roll up my sleeves and leave like everyone else, especially government officials.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice said that where there are forty families living in the house of four people, they are selling books here, what are they doing, only to make money? Everyone is just making money, the situation is the same from PECHS to North Nazimabad.
