Timely rescue saves family stuck in SUV on Karachi’s Sea View
A leisurely day at Karachi’s Sea View beach took a perilous turn for a family when their SUV became trapped in the rising tide on Thursday.
Five people, including Salim, his wife, and their minor daughter, found themselves in a harrowing situation as their vehicle sank deeper into the sandy beach with each passing moment. Despite their efforts, they were unable to extricate the jeep from the encroaching seawater. However, a timely rescue prevented a tragedy.
Fearing the worst, Salim dialled the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) helpline for assistance. CBC’s rescue department swiftly responded to the distress call, ensuring the safety of the stranded family.
Syed Muzammil Hussain, a CBC rescue team member, reported that the family was successfully evacuated from the vehicle and brought to a secure location on the beach.

The rescue team, undeterred by the challenging conditions, laboured for approximately two hours to dislodge the SUV from its watery entrapment. They eventually succeeded with the aid of a tractor.
Sub Inspector Sana Ullah, in charge of the Sea View check post, revealed that Salim, a Nazimabad resident, had ventured onto the sandy beach for an adventurous outing with his family.
“A lifeguard tried to stop Salim, explaining that driving vehicles on the sandy beach was not allowed, but he ignored the advice. Eventually, his jeep got stuck in the sand,” he added.
CBC officials took this opportunity to appeal to the public to make use of the designated parking facility, constructed at a substantial cost, rather than risking their vehicles on the beach.
They emphasised that the availability of ample parking space serves as a safer alternative, ensuring that beachgoers can enjoy their day without putting themselves or others in jeopardy.
