TLP calls off sit-in at GT Road after release of two key leaders

Allama Dr. Shafiq Amini from Peshawar and Deputy Amir Pir Syed Zaheer ul Hassan Bukhari from Sheikhupura were released.

After the release of its two central leaders, the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has called off its sit-in from the GT Road.

The situation has started normalising after the government’s agreement with the banned outfit yesterday.

According to the details, TLP had marched towards Islamabad demanding expulsion of the French ambassador and release of its arrested leaders and workers.

Violent clashes took place between the TLP workers leaving Lahore for Islamabad and the police at several places. However, the government and the banned TLP held successful talks in Islamabad yesterday, in which the demand of release of leaders and workers of the banned organization was accepted.

On the other hand, the government has started the process of releasing TLP workers under the agreement.

According to sources, Allama Dr. Shafiq Amini from Peshawar and Deputy Amir Pir Syed Zaheer ul Hassan Bukhari from Sheikhupura were released.

After the release of party leaders, the TLP workers called off their sit-on the GT Road and traffic on both sides of the road has restored.

TLP’s main leader who led the long march, Ameer South Punjab Allama Sarwar Saifi told the News360 that the sit-in would continue until all the party workers are released. We are opening roads as the government was accepting our demands, he added. We will not move from here till the release of Allama Saad Rizvi, he said.
