TLP march again exposes Buzdar govt’s administrative incompetence

Protesters reached Wazirabad despite digging up of trenches, using force, suspending rail and internet services.

The banned TLP’s march has again badly exposed the Punjab government’s administrative competence.

The march that started on Oct 19 from Lahore had successfully cleared all the hurdles created by the provincial government.

The state machinery almost failed to stop protesters from marching towards Islamabad despite digging up of trenches, using force, blocking roads and suspending rail and internet services in cities between Lahore to Islamabad.

Despite all these hurdles, the protesters had managed to reach Gujranwala and later Wazirabad, bringing embarrassment for Buzdar-led Punjab government, which is already known for failing to deliver in all sectors.

Police were seen as completely failed to tackle the protesters. Later, Rangers were called in and to handle the law and order situation in the province.

Recently, Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan has rebuked the Lahore police high command for “unprofessionally” handling the rally of the proscribed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and sought a report from the capital city police officer (CCPO) to fix responsibility.
The IGP admonished the officers for their alleged failure in threat assessment, security plan and leadership crisis that helped the TLP leave Lahore, inviting wrath of the provincial authorities.

He was of the view that the Lahore police had been taking lead on ‘police agencies’ in the country because of level of their training, standard of professionalism and in combating crime and law and order. However, the police brought ‘embarrassment’ while exhibiting pathetic performance in dealing with the recent TLP rally, the IGP said.
