The first transgender lawyer in the country was denied treatment at the Indus hospital in Karachi.
According to sources, Nisha Rao was denied treatment by the staff of the Indus hospital.
In 2020, she became the first transgender law graduate in Pakistan.

In a video, she said that the hospital management bristled with anger when she inquired about the reason for denial.
The transgender lawyer also claimed that the staff misbehaved with her after which she called the police helpline.
Nisha Rao said that the Indus hospital is run on funding and public donations but it refused to provide treatment to a transgender person.
“Are transgender people not humans?”, she asked.
She demanded Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah take notice of the incident.
