UAE President’s visit to Islamabad, a unique holiday in federal capital

Emirat's President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zaid Al Nahyan will arrive in Islamabad from Rahim Yar Khan on a short visit at the invitation of the Prime Minister, while a public holiday has been declared in his honor today.

The President of United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is arriving in federal capital today on a one-day visit. On the occasion of his arrival, a public holiday has been declared in capital city of Islamabad today (Monday), critics say.

That this is probably first occasion in history of Pakistan when a general holiday has been given in capital city on occasion of the arrival of head of a country.

In notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, it has been stated that staff of CDA, SNGPL, ISCO and hospital will not get leave.

According to Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, the staff of the district administration and Metropolitan Corporation will also be on duty.

The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan is reaching the federal capital Islamabad on a short visit (today) at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will discuss various issues regarding bilateral relations and investment with President Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Later, a luncheon will be served in honor of the distinguished guest at the Prime Minister’s House.

Diplomatic sources say that it is an unusual occasion that the President of the United Arab Emirates, who is currently on a five-day private visit to Pakistan, has accepted the invitation to come to Islamabad on short notice at the request of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his cabinet members welcomed UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Rahim Yar Khan airport on January 25.

Diplomatic sources further say that the UAE has assured Pakistan of its support to overcome the current financial difficulties. It is expected that the two leaders will discuss matters of mutual interest in today’s meeting and Pakistan’s immediate needs will also be considered during the discussion.

Absence of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be conspicuous during the talks as he is on a visit to Moscow at the invitation of his Russian counterpart.

On the other hand, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salim Al-Zabi is in touch with Prime Minister House and Foreign Office to make the visit very successful.
