Why we mix sports and politics?

'Make Asif Ali the PM so that he destroys the country more than Imran Khan', Murtaza Solangi's remarks stir up debate on social media

Asif Ali is everywhere just now because he led Pakistan for the second straight game of T20 World Cup 2021 against Afghanistan last night at Dubai International Stadium.

The fans and cricket fraternity have been showering praise for Asif and even his critics have also started admiring him.

Unfortunately some people try to mix up things. A good performance by Asif Ali is being politicised.

At the time when cricket fans are showering praise on Asif Ali around the world, journalist and former director general Radio Pakistan Murtaza Solangi wrote on his Twitter account: “Make Asif Ali the prime minister so that he destroys the country more than Imran Khan.”

He added that Asif Ali would fill the gap of destruction if left any after Imran Khan.

The journalist’s irresponsible remark had attracted criticism from all circles.

Last night, Asif Ali emerged as the hero for Pakistan for the second straight game of T20 World Cup 2021.
