The top brass of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari took different routes in their speeches during the public gathering in Larkana on the 13th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto on December 27 to define ousting of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Bilawal and Zardari, heading the same party, sounded differently to describe the policy of their party to oust the government when the deadline given by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to the Prime Minister Imran Khan to resign is nearly a month away and questions are being raised on PPP.

Asif Zardari’s address can be deemed as a course that is a bit lenient and possibly more democratic one.

Without mentioning names, the former president suggested the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leadership to listen to him as well, citing he was the brain behind forcing out General Pervez Musharraf from power.

Zardari noted that a military general was removed from power by him like a ‘fly out of milk’.

He also urged the PDM leaders to stop dictating each other whilst remaining united for a joint cause.

However, Bilawal Bhutto sounded more aggressive and the one who made PPP workers swear to join the long march against the government.

His focus was more on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government and Imran Khan, unlike his father who unnamed called out to other ‘centers’ of power and PDM leadership.

The statements from PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari are contrasting in terms of the policy definition of their party.

Either, this could be a strategy to hit two targets with a single arrow or it could be the difference in approaches of a seasoned and novice politician in handling affairs.

Notably, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Secretary-General Muhammad Ali Durrani met the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) President and National Assembly Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif in Kot Lakhpat jail last week.

The episode can be contemplated as to the direction in which Zardari wants the PDM to go.

However, all of this will only get easy to explain once new developments take place as the days go by.
