Hamid-Kamran Saga: Issue of Correct Info or Ego Problem?

The Saga Has Drawn Mixed Views From Journalist Fraternity And Social Media Users

WEB DESK: Geo News Senior Journalist Hamid Mir deriding Dunya News President Kamran Khan has drawn mixed views from the social media users as well as from the journalist fraternity.

As per details, the renowned anchor, Hamid Mir, shared a tweet from his account in which he quoted a tweet from Kamran Khan. Mir recalled that according to Kamran, the kidnapping saga of Sindh Police Inspector General (IG) was done to satisfy Maryam Nawaz.

However, things developed differently, and Kamran Khan’s claims proved wrong when the high command of the Sindh Police collectively submitted leave applications for being disrespected by some entities on the matter related to the arrest of Capt (R) Safdar.

Hamid Mir questioned in his tweet to Kamran Khan, “What you have to say now?”. Mir claimed that ‘irrefutable’ sources of Kamran Khan also called him yesterday and repeated what the Dunya News President had asserted without confirmation.

Geo News anchor suggested Dunya News president refrain from refuting his news in the future on the basis of information provided by his irrefutable source.

After the war on Twitter, social media and journalist fraternity have mixed views on the development.

Some believe that although Mir’s information proved correct he shouldn’t be mocking a seasoned journalist like Kamran, some even termed Mir’s act as indecent and below par his stature.

However, some supported Hamid Mir and said that Kamran Khan must have been treated harshly as the dignity of a journalist, as senior as him, was linked to the authenticity of his news.

The social media users are of the view that things have gone beyond who gave the correct news but rather it has turned into an egoistic feud.
