Chief Justice PHC Justice Waqar Seth Passes Away

PESHAWAR: Chief Justice Peshawar High Court Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth, who gave ruling in a case against Pakistan’s former military president General Pervez Musharraf for violating Pakistan’s constitution, has died due to illness.
Confirming the death, a spokesman of the Peshawar High Court said that Chief Justice was suffering from the Corona virus.
According to him, Chief Justice Peshawar High Court has been in critical condition for several days and was undergoing treatment at Kulsoom International Hospital, Islamabad.
Justice Waqar Seth was born on March 16, 1961 in DI Khan. He matriculated from Kent Public School Peshawar in 1977 and obtained his BSc degree from Islamia College Peshawar in 1981.
He obtained his LLB degree from Khyber Law College in 1985 and completed his Masters in Political Science from the University of Peshawar in 1986.
He started his practice in the Lower Courts in 1985 and began his professional career in the High Court in 1990. He started practicing law in the Supreme Court in May 2008.
Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth started his duties as Additional Judge in 2011. During this time he was also a banking judge and a company judge in the Peshawar High Court.
He was also a member of the Subordinate Judiciary Service Tribunal, Peshawar.
He has sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court on June 28, 2018 and remained the Chief Justice of the PHC till his last breath.
Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth had also written the decision to hang the body of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on the square in a case of violating the constitution.
He was shifted to a private hospital in Islamabad a few days ago due to corona virus, where he couldn’t survive and now his body has been shifted to Peshawar.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Chief Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth.
The lawyers’ community has also declared a day of mourning across the country on Saturday.
