WEB DESK: The 13th International Urdu Conference organized by the Arts Council of Pakistan in Karachi began on December 3.
The conference will be held online this year due to the pandemic situation. All sessions will be aired live on the council’s digital channel, announced by President Arts Council Mohammad Ahmed Shah in a press conference.
The overseas literary figures will mark their presence digitally in the conference, he added.
This year the conference will hold sessions in all regional languages of Pakistan.
The conference kicked-off with “Biyad-e-Asif Farukhi”, and “Nawjawano ka Mushaira” on the first day.
The events scheduled for the second day include “100 Baras ka Qissa”, “Urdu Novel Ki Aik Sadi”, “Balochi Zaban-o-Adab Kay 100 Baras”, Hamary Adab Aur Samaj May Khawateen Ka Kirdar”, and “Kahani Zindagi Say Pehlay”.
Sessions on the third day of the conference will include “Urdu Sahafat Kay 100 Baras”, and “Urdu Ka Shahkaar Mizah”.
The conference will wrap up the season with “Bachon Ka Adab” and will have actor Humayun Saeed,
scriptwriter, host, and humorist Anwar Maqsood, and actor Sohail Ahmed as guests.
Speakers from across Pakistan will arrive in the city for the conference but some others will be taking part remotely.
Writers and poets from India include Professor Shamim Hanfi and Javed Siddiqui will be connected digitally too.

Masood Qamar from Sweden, Ghazal Ansari from UK, Tahira Kazmi from Muscat, and Farhat Parveen from America will join the conference online.
As per the announcement by Chairman, the prominent personalities of Pakistan like Zia Mohyuddin, Anwer Maqsood, Nadeem Baig, Yasir Hussain, Sohail Waraich, Aasma Shirazi, Haseena Moin, Peerzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, Zehra Nigah, Asad Mohammad Khan, Hasan Manzar, Anwer Shour, Mazhar Abbas, Dr. Shehrshah Syed, Kishwar Naheed, Abbasin Yosufzai, Shah Mohammad Marri and others will be the part of the conference.
