19 Days of Teachers’ Protest & Sindh Govt Remains Negligent
Dozens of educators chanted slogans outside Sindh Assembly against humiliation and torture of female counterparts
Several school teachers continued their protest outside Sindh Assembly on 19th consecutive day for regularization.
The protest took a new twist as the educators brought a coffin with them which boiled tensions between the protestors and police.
The demonstration was held against non-regularization after four years of service.
The protesters marched towards Sindh Chief Minister House too but they were intercepted by the police. The incidents of quarrels and scuffles also occurred and an agitated teacher also tried to set himself on fire but the police foiled the attempt and booked him.
The educators have been sacked following an advertisement published for new recruitment through the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) exams.
According to the protestors, they were recruited after clearing entrance exam conducted by the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur.
However, the Sindh government did not regularize them but directed them to reappear in the SPSC exam.
In response to the government’s measure, the teachers, while holding placards, protested outside Sindh Assembly and pledged that they would continue it until their demands were met.
Furthermore, the protest became serious as they brought a coffin, signaling the death of merit, and chanted slogans to grab the attention of the authorities for reversal of the decision.
Earlier, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani commented that Sindh High Court (SHC) had barred the government from regularizing educators inducted through IBA test.
