CII Blocked Conspiracy of Sectarian Divide in GB
Qibla Ayaz said the council approached PEMRA to highlight the issue of inappropriate content on television
Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Chairman Dr Qibla Ayaz, in an interview with News360, complained that the government didn’t pay heed to many recommendations put forward by the body.
On the other hand, he added that the council has prepared and shortlisted more than 100 topics for Friday sermons and other religious congregations.
“These sermons will serve as a guideline for the clerics and are not mandatory to be followed”, Qibla said.

CII chairman said, “the council crushed a conspiracy hatched to create sectarian divide in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB)”.
The chairman informed News360 that a conspiracy to trigger a dispute between Shia and Sunni sects was blocked in GB, adding that the council of Islamic ideology pays tribute to the religious scholars who worked for the process in the region.
Further, he warned that the sectarian riots are being planned to thwart CPEC in Pakistan and now the duty lies on the nation to protect the area and maintain peace.
The chairman maintained that the body also discussed the law of desecration of dead bodies during Monday’s meeting.
“The council stands in favor of the government’s initiative to bring a law to curb desecration of bodies”, he added.
Not only this, the body also emphasized that it is important to raise awareness regarding the sanctity of messengers, holy books, and religious content.
“The religious quotations can be used in advertisements where it is mandatory”, he told in response to a question.
While replying to a question, Qibla Ayaz maintained that the council also raised the issue of inappropriate content on television before Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).
Qibla Ayaz told that 8 of 20 members of the council will be retiring this month and a new list has been prepared to replace them.
He also appreciated that the council has been taken on board in the standing committees of national and provincial assemblies to discuss religious matters.
While discussing the guideline for Friday sermons, Ayaz informed that more than 100 topics have been chosen by the Islamic council to promote social and religious harmony.
On Monday, the CII chairman also had a meeting with the premier Imran Khan to discuss the recommendations by the council to achieve the goal of Riyasat-e-Madina.
