In an appreciable move, Aaj media group has decided to restore the old salaries of its employees that were slashed nearly 30 months ago.
The decision will apply to affected employees of financial daily Business Recorder and Aaj TV from July.
The move comes weeks after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had released media arrears worth millions of rupees pending for years.
Amid the financial crunch faced by the media houses during the past two years or so, Aaj media group had also laid off hundreds of workers besides slashing their salaries by up to 50%.

However, the group has decided to restore the old salaries of all employees after it has regained financial health.
Sources confirmed News360 that the Aaj media group owner has restored the old pays. He has also decided to give arrears of the past 30 months to all employees under a devised mechanism.
The decision has sent a wave of happiness among the workers.
Different organizations of journalists have demanded other media groups to follow the same footsteps following the government’s clearance of media arrears.
