Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s post-mortem: Court reserves verdict

A court has reserved verdict on a plea seeking exhumation and autopsy of televangelist Aamir Liaquat Hussain late after his mysterious death.

KARACHI: A sessions court has reserved verdict on a plea seeking exhumation and autopsy of televangelist Aamir Liaquat Hussain late after his mysterious death at his residence.

The judicial magistrate East Wazir Hussain Memon heard the petition today in which Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s heirs have appeared, whereas, the government lawyer Sajjad Ali Dashti and SHO Brigade police station also attended the hearing.

Sajjad Ali Dashti apprised the court that Hussain’s heirs do not want a post-mortem of his body as it will be painful for his departed soul, whereas, they do not suspect anyone’s involvement in his death.

A police report stated that the cause of Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s death could not be ascertained until the post-mortem examination of the body.

After listening to the arguments from both sides, the court reserved a verdict which will be announced shortly.

Earlier, a citizen Abdul Ahad moved a plea seeking the exhumation and autopsy of televangelist Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s body, citing the senior superintendent of police (SSP) of the East Zone and the station house officer (SHO) of the Brigade police station as official respondents.

Hussain had been laid to rest without post-mortem after successful dialogues between police and the heirs of the televangelist.

The former wife of Aamir Liaquat Hussain, Syeda Bushra Iqbal announced on Twitter that the funeral prayer of her ex-husband will be offered after Friday congregation at Abdullah Shah Ghazi Masjid in Clifton and he will be laid to rest on the premises of the shrine.

She added that the heirs of Aamir Liaquat Hussain, his children including Ahmed Aamir and Dua-e-Aamir rejected to conduct a post-mortem and as per their decision, their father will be laid to rest with full respect.

Aamir Liaquat Hussain had been found dead in his bedroom. Amir Liaquat Hussain was rushed from his house in Khudadad Colony to Aga Khan Hospital near Stadium Road where the hospital management confirmed his death.

Earlier, Hussain had expressed his mental stress after his separation from his third wife and announced to leave the country.
