ABAD Condemns Illegal Buildings in Karachi

Karachi has long been facing encroachment issues as the planning department has failed to curb the illegal occupation in slums of the city despite concerns raised by the Association of Builders And Developers (ABAD) on several occasions.
The planning department and Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) have turned a blind eye towards the ragging issue.
The encroachment and illegal structures have also given rise to the building collapse incidents in the metropolitan city.

ABAD has highlighted the rising issue of illegal buildings in Karachi but no plan has been formulated yet.
While talking to News360, ABAD officials maintained that encroachers have been constructing high-rise buildings on plots of 60 to 80 square-yards while the government is acting deaf and mute.
“There is no planning in the city and due to lack of governance, small builders erect buildings overnight”.
The locals were of the view that the city has numerous such buildings which are unauthorized and dangerous to human lives.
On the other hand, Sindh government maintained that the issue has been ragging due to the swelling population in the city.
