KARACHI: Another corruption case has been unearthed in the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Karachi as ‘ghost patients’ were detected by the hospital’s administration.
The probe found ghost patients receiving medical treatment at NICVD at the state expenditure. For the ghost patients, the hospital received annually Rs15 billion of funds from the Sindh government.
The investigation detected multiple entries of single patients in the hospital’s records, whereas, the administration confirmed that irregularities in the patient registrations.
The administration stopped the emergency, OPD, entry and corporate department from entries of the patients. The fake entries of patients have also increased difficulties for the doctors to review the case history of different patients.
A three-member committee was also formed to stop the fake entries of patients.
