After SHC order, Dua Zehra says ‘facing police harassment, lives are in danger’

After court's production order, Dua Zehra has released another video message in which she claims that the couple is facing police harassment.

LAHORE: After the court’s production order, Dua Zehra has released another video message in which she claims that the couple is facing harassment both from Sindh and Punjab police forces and reiterated that she and her husband’s lives are in danger.

In the video message after the issuance of the court’s production order, Dua Zehra reiterated that she willingly married Zaheer Ahmed which is her constitutional right to marry of her own will and live wherever she wants. She said that she had also recorded her statement to the court in her husband’s favour.

Zehra expressed fear that the Sindh police wanted to kidnap her and her husband. She said that if anything happens to them, the Sindh and Punjab police forces and her parents will be responsible.

The girl said that she is happily married and is living a peaceful life in Lahore and her in-laws are treating her very well.

She rejected the allegations that her in-laws are part of a gang and called them respectable people who are better than her parents.

Dua Zehra said that she is not willing to go to Karachi and appealed to the police not to harass them.

Earlier, the Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notices to all parties concerned, including the girl’s husband, on the petition filed by Dua Zahra’s father for her recovery besides ordering the police to produce her in the next hearing on May 19.
