ISLAMABAD: Investigative journalist Ahmad Noorani has alleged that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was helpless to make an impartial decision in the Faisal Vawda disqualification case and the verdict will be based on the umpire’s call.

In a Twitter message, Ahmad Noorani alleged that the election commission will follow the instructions of General Headquarters (GHQ) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He added that it was not just an issue of Pakistani citizenship.

The journalist said that Fakhar Durrani’s story published in daily The News last year highlighted that Faisal Vawda mentioned becoming a Pakistani citizen only in his nomination papers during general elections.

In another tweet, Noorani further alleged that former chief justice Mian Saqib Nisar and the Supreme Court had disqualified opposition leaders on the same basis but Faisal Vawda is still a parliamentarian due to a blue-eyed person of GHQ.

The journalist has shamed the top court’s judges over showing dual-standard.

It may be noted here that Fact Focus-linked blogger and journalist Ahmad Noorani had released the 45-second alleged audio of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar on November 21 in which he blamed the former CJP of judicial manipulation to keep former premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz in jail till 2018 general elections.

However, the leaked audio of former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar had turned out to be fake after an American firm Primeau Forensics conducted a forensic test. The firm had confirmed that the audio leaked by FactFocus was doctored.

Ahmed Noorani had also apologised for giving the wrong news about Panama leaks in a story published in The News on July 12, 2017.
