ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and ex-prime minister Imran Khan has addressed anti-inflation protests organised in more than 28 cities of the country via video link, proving himself as the most popular leader and his political party as the largest party of the country.

The political party installed large screens at major protest venues for Imran Khan’s virtual address which were joined by the rallies to protest against the ‘imported government’ over searing inflation.

While virtually addressing the protestors, Imran Khan said that it will be destructive for the country if fresh elections are not held immediately as the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government and its allies are destroying the national institutions while their prime objective is getting NRO-II.

Imran Khan delivered his speech in more than 28 cities and towns of the country at the same time.

He said that the purpose of today’s call is to wage jihad against oppression and the struggle against oppression and injustice is obligatory. Petrol, diesel and electricity prices have skyrocketed. In our time, when petrol became expensive by Rs12 per litre during the PTI government, the inflation march was started by Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties and now they are telling that Imran Khan has laid landmines, criticised Khan.

Imran Khan said that the present government has increased the price of petrol by Rs85 per litre and diesel by Rs115 per litre in just two months and the current rulers are blaming Imran Khan had made agreements with IMF which caused inflation. The PTI chairman rejected the allegations and said that his government reduced petrol prices despite IMF pressure.

The PTI chairman said that despite the coronavirus pandemic, the PTI government maintained the growth rate at 5.8% and we worked with the best strategy but the PTI government was ousted through a conspiracy.

Khan asked PTI workers to complete preparations for his next call for a grand protest to remove the imported government and announced to continue protests till the announcement of fresh elections.

PTI Karachi organised the protest at Tariq Road in Karachi which was participated by a large number of PTI workers. Former Sindh Governor Imran Ismail listened to Khan’s speech with the workers.

On Imran Khan’s call, a large number of PTI workers took to the streets in Islamabad, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Larkana, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Peshawar, Mansehra and Multan and other cities of the country to record protests against the inflation.
