APS Attack Survivor Elected ‘Treasurer’ of Oxford Union
Nawaz was 14 at the time of the ambush and his family later moved to United Kingdom for the treatment of his bullet injury
A fortunate survivor of the Army Public School (APS) attack Peshawar in 2014, Ahmad Nawaz, has been elected the Treasurer of the Oxford Union, the renowned debating society of the British University.
The APS survivor announced on social media, “Honored to be elected the Treasurer of the historic Oxford Union in the recent elections. It has been an adventurous first year at Oxford with so many new experiences. I shall continue to utilize the Oxford Union platform to connect inspiring speakers with bright Oxonians”.

The dreadful APS attack took lives of 141 people including 132 schoolchildren and left several other students in trauma of losing their friends in front of their eyes.

Nawaz was 14 at the time of the ambush and his family later moved to United Kingdom (UK) for the treatment of his bullet injury.
He got admission in Oxford University in 2020 based on his school grades and is studying Philosophy and Theology at Lady Margaret Hall.
Earlier in March, the survivor was elected to the Governing & Standing Committee of Oxford Union and received plaudits by the citizens and government of Pakistan.
Nawaz describes himself as an activist keen to work for the cause of education.
