Are Pakistani Journalists Transforming as Propagandists?

How media is regulated around the world is eminent from the ruling of London High Court after a lawsuit against Daily Mail by Meghan Merkel

The top Pakistani journalists are transforming into propagandists as they yet again put a show of irresponsible journalism on two different occasions by disseminating false and unauthenticated information.

A burning issue regarding the release of development funds to the lawmakers of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) landed in the Supreme Court (SC).

An alleged message made rounds on the media in which an MPA Salik Hussain allegedly texted one of the SC judges regarding funds he had received from the premier.

Its authenticity was not confirmed. However, a senior journalist Gharida Farooqi tweeted it as a fact. In response, MPA reprehended the anchorperson for spreading propaganda.

Similarly, Hamid Mir of Geo News did the same as he asserted that a policeman of the Islamabad police had perished after inhaling ‘expired’ teargas shells on the protesting civil servants.

However, Islamabad police quickly responded to the claim of the veteran journalist who is heard and read by thousands of people.

Meanwhile, how the media is regulated in other parts of the world is eminent from the ruling of the London High Court after a lawsuit against Daily Mail by Duchess of Sussex Meghan Merkel.

Particularly those who spend ample in the field and get renowned, the Pakistani journalists are transforming as propagandists and enjoy immunity as they have never faced such an outcome.

Contrary to what usually happens in Pakistan, the India Today Group off-aired and deducted one month’s salary of senior journalist and anchor Rajdeep Sardesai over his irresponsible comments during the Republic Day protests by farmers in India.

“Sardesai had tweeted, “One person, 45-year-old Navneet, was killed allegedly in police firing at ITO. Farmers tell me: the ‘sacrifice’ will not go in vain, on January 26”. However, the information was later proven wrong.
