Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Faisal Vawda has given a new statement regarding the senior journalist Arshad Sharif’s murder case and said that people within PTI could be involved in his assassination in Kenya.

Faisal Vawda told a private news channel that the assassination was allegedly planned in Pakistan by those who could benefit from it.

He said that Sharif’s murder was allegedly beneficial for “three snakes and two VIPs” of the political party. He claimed that Waqar Ahmed was his college mate and they have a property business in Karachi.

Earlier, Faisal Vawda faced the music after failing to build a narrative regarding the assassination of senior journalist Arshad Sharif one day before his funeral prayer. He claimed that the journalist was shot at from a close range and his murder was premediated.

Slain Arshad Sharif’s family, politicians and journalists had rejected Faisal Vawda’s press conference held on Wednesday within a few hours.

Senior journalists Kamran Khan, Syed Talat Hussain, Cyril Almeida, Mubashir Zaidi, Azhar Siddiqui and others termed Faisal Vawda’s press conference as meaningless press conference.

On the other hand, Arshad Sharif’s mother and her widow also rejected Vawda’s statement instead the slain journalist’s mother gave a statement in the favour of ARY News owner Salman Iqbal.

Commenting on Vawda’s press conference, senior journalists said the power matrix has exposed itself again. They said that those who launched Faisal Vawda have not come up with full preparations. Some of them termed it a planted press conference at the behest of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) as surprisingly, the presser was shown on state television, PTV.

Following his press conference, PTI Chairman Imran Khan terminated the basic party membership of Faisal Vawda.
