The reporting crew of ARY channel was assaulted in Maripur area of Karachi by hotel owners and staff as it tried to report flagrant violation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The Sindh government has banned outdoor dining across the province to stem coronavirus and the channel’s team carried out a raid in Maripur area where the eateries were opened for it.

It is a route where the container trucks pass through and the hotels serve as a rendezvous for the drivers leaving or coming into the city.
When the reporter and technicians reached the site to report about the violation of the government’s orders, they were encompassed by the hotel owners and staff.
The suspects tried to stop recording but the reporting crew continued to resist them.
This provoked the suspects who started assaulting the crew and even snatched the camera from them which they later disbanded. The staffers also hit the DSNG van as it drove away.
The video of the whole incident was recorded from the smartphone and shared on social media.
The users condemned the attack on the ARY crew in Karachi and wondered about the power of the culprits who were openly defying lockdown orders and fearlessly assaulted the channel’s staff.
