ATC order acquitting journalist Siddique Jan in judicial complex voilence case

Islamabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) acquitted Bol TV Bureau Chief Siddique Jan on Wednesday. Siddiq Jan was arrested two days ago on charges of violence and rioting on the occasion of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s arrival outside the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC).

It should be noted that Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan appeared at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad two days ago in connection with the Tosha Khana case.

It should be noted that Bol TV’s Islamabad Bureau Chief Siddique Jan was forcibly picked up by the police from outside his office on Monday night and taken to an unknown location in a private vehicle.

After the disappearance of Siddique Jan, his journalist friends searched every police station in the city, but the police maintained that they had no information about Siddique Jan from whom he was picked up.

However, hours later, Islamabad Police released a message on its Twitter handle and wrote that CTD Police arrested him in a case registered against violence, arson, and siege in the judicial complex.

It may be noted that on Tuesday, the Anti-Terrorism Special Court (ATC) granted a one-day physical remand to Siddique Jan, after which he was produced today, where the police had requested for a further 5-day remand, investigating officer said. recommended the release of Idris Chachar. Idris Chachar was picked up along with Siddique Jan on Monday night.

On this occasion, Judge Jawad Abbas of the Anti-Terrorism Court remarked that Siddique Jan is a journalist and not a terrorist.

After hearing the arguments, the ATC judge rejected the police’s request for further remand and dismissed the case against Siddiq Jan and Idris Chachar.
