The sit-in was peacefully underway since morning but in the evening, some miscreants broke into the housing scheme through the main entrance gate and set it on fire.
The agitated protesters vandalized cars, buildings, and other private belongings as they chanted slogans against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Bahria Town Owner Malik Riaz.

According to sources in Bahria Town management, the miscreants smashed glass windows of several buildings and also set ablaze a car showroom owing to which several brand new vehicles were burnt.
Sindh action committee terms it a conspiracy
Subsequently, Sindh Action Committee disowned the attackers and said that the people who wreaked havoc weren’t amongst them.
They accused that the whole scene was a conspiracy and an attempt to undermine a successful sit-in.
The committee officials demanded the release of peaceful demonstrators, adding that the miscreants could be easily spotted through video footage.
Further, Sindh Action Committee leaders including Jalal Mehmood Shah and Dr Qadir Magsi addressed a presser in Jamshoro.
They announced a province-wide strike on June 9 against the Bahria Town incident.
The officials said they would soon announce the date to surround Sindh Assembly.
Meanwhile, provincial ministers Nisar Khoro and Nasir Hussain Shah said that the protest was the right of every individual but nobody would be allowed to damage private or public properties.
Opposition backs protest
However, the Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Haleem Adil Sheikh pledged his support for the protesters.
He accused that PPP backed Bahria Town to encroach lands owned by people which was visible to everyone.
The opposition leader demanded the registration of cases against the miscreants who caused destruction.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail stressed that Bahria Town should resolve all matters at the earliest so that people could live in peace.
He questioned why Sindh Police inspector general (IG) didn’t take pre-emptive measures despite knowing about the protest.
