The Federal Cabinet approved the Tosha Khana Policy 2023, under which the president, prime minister and other government officials including cabinet members were banned from receiving gifts worth more than $300. In the light of the decision of the Federal Cabinet, amendments have been made in the Tosha Khana rules.
In this regard, according to the notification issued by the federal government on March 8, the public office holder who receives the gift will have the responsibility to report the gift within 30 days of receiving the gift or returning home. And submission will be mandatory.
According to the decision, no public office holder will be able to keep a gift worth more than $300, a gift of less than $300 can be received by paying money under the prevailing procedure.

According to the notification, perishable food items will not be required to be reported or deposited, officers of grade 5 and above cannot accept cash from a foreigner.

According to the notification, the procedure will also apply to governors, members of the federal cabinet, attorney general, deputy chairman of the senate, deputy speaker of the national assembly, in addition to provincial ministers, judges of the Supreme Court and High Court, members of parliament and all civil and military. It will also apply to officials.
According to the Tosha Khana Policy 2023, the gifts received in the form of gold and silver coins will now be handed over to the State Bank of Pakistan.

The Cabinet Division decided to immediately declassify the information related to Tosha Khana gifts for the last 20 years (after 2002) without revealing the name of the dignitary or the country presenting it and immediately post it on the Cabinet Division website. To be uploaded on the site, the list of gifts of Tosha Khana by Cabinet Division will be updated quarterly on its website.
