Imitating the footsteps of the founder of the world’s largest volunteer ambulance service, humanitarian and philanthropist late Abdul Sattar Edhi, a citizen of the Bhakkar city in Punjab has set up baby cradles for foundlings.
While talking to News360, Faheem Ahmed Khan said that he took the initiative by placing cots in different areas across the city to provide foundlings with a place to survive.
Faheem Khan runs his pharmacy and is a former karate champion. Sharing his experience, the philanthropist informed that once he saw a dog mauling a dead abandoned infant.
He later buried the chewed body parts of the infant with a heavy heart but it was the turning point.
“That was the day I decided to step forward for the protection and fostering of such infants”, he added.
He lamented that the measure has been taken to encourage people to leave unwanted infants with him rather than taking their lives.
