Big decisions regarding Pakistani politics are likely as Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are going to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Geneva.
Yesterday, former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and two more family members departed for Geneva – Switzerland from London, according to ARY News.
The report said that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz will stay in Geneva for one week where he will also meet his doctor. Two more family members are also accompanying Nawaz Sharif and Maryam on the Geneva tour.
Sharif is also expected to hold ‘some private meetings’ in Geneva, sources added.
In November, Nawaz Sharif along with other family members had paid a visit to Europe from London from November 21 to 30. It was Sharif’s first international trip after three years of stay in London.
On the other hand, Climate Resilient Pakistan’ conference, which is set to help flood victims will be held in Geneva on Monday and will be co-hosted by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
According to the details, the international conference will serve as a platform to garner international support for the people and government of Pakistan for climate-friendly reconstruction in the affected areas after the recent devastating floods.
The Foreign Office said that Pakistan is moving from the phase of rescue and relief to the important work of rehabilitation and reconstruction.
The Foreign Office said that the framework document outlines a prioritized and sequential plan, which is defined at the federal and provincial levels.
The conference program will include a high-level opening session chaired by the prime minister and the UN Secretary-General, followed by the official launch of the 4 RF document.
Partnership and support announcements will be made during the global conference. The Prime Minister and the United Nations Secretary General will jointly talk to the media.
At the conference, the prime minister of Pakistan will present the vision of Pakistan to the international community to rehabilitate the flood-affected population and damaged infrastructure and make the country more dynamic with the support of development partners.
During the conference, Pakistan’s federal ministers will explain the framework document and present Pakistan’s long-term plan for climate resilience and adaptation.
Apart from this, the respective provincial representatives will explain the perspective of the four provinces. In addition to the heads of different countries, ministers, and high-level representatives, representatives of international organizations will also participate in the conference.
Sources said that Nawaz and Maryam will also hold meetings with PM Shehbaz Sharif in Geneva in which they will decide their return to Pakistan besides taking other important decisions.
