Bilawal Bhutto Gears up to Save Last Fortress of PPP

The ruling party of Sindh is considered unpopular in the largest city of the country and it has only three seats of the national legislature from Karachi

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has taken up the gauntlet to save the party’s last fortress.

PPP chairman addressed the party leaders and office-bearers of the Karachi division on Thursday.

The meeting with Karachi officials comes weeks after the PTI-led federal government is repetitively nitpicking the performance of the Sindh government that is ruling the province for over a decade.

Notably, the political party’s popularity has sharply declined over the years after it formed the federal and Sindh government in 2008 and completed its five-year term.

It although won again from the province due to feudal influence and hereditary politics but lost at the national level.

After forming governments in all provinces except Sindh, the center is eyeing the province ruled by PPP.

In the past few weeks, the federal ministers have had vehemently criticized the PPP government over abysmal governance in Sindh.

The ruling party of Sindh is considered unpopular in the largest city of the country and it has only three seats of the national legislature from Karachi.

Sensing danger, Bilawal Bhutto has certainly become active for the largest urban hub of the country.

While addressing the workers, he reiterated that only his party could save Karachi.

He added that PPP has aimed to resolve all issues of the metropolis including water scarcity, water theft, mass transit system, condition of roads, and garbage disposal.

He also held MQM-P to task and said that no development work was done during its rule in different districts of Karachi under local bodies.

PPP chairman also censured Prime Minister Imran Khan for not fulfilling the promises regarding the metropolis.

He said the federal government didn’t launch any new projects for Karachi let alone resolving the water shortage issue.

He also asked the party members to remain prepared as the general elections can happen at any time.
