Prime Minister Imran Khan claims that the Broadsheet scandal has exposed the corruption of the ruling elite of Pakistan but it could happen to be Panama leaks or Memogate for him as well as others.
The owner of a UK-based firm Broadsheet LLC, Kaveh Moussavi, gave an interview to a YouTube channel.
He revealed how the tool of accountability is used by the incumbent governments to dominate the parties in opposition in Pakistan.
However, the revelations made by the firm’s owner are not just tarnishing for the ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, it can open new shutters of scandals for incumbent Prime Minister Imran Khan as well.
Kaveh Moussavi asserted that he has proof of corruption done by the Pakistani elite.
However, what Moussavi is doing exactly resembles what Mansoor Ijaz did after he disclosed delivering a memo to the US officials in 2011 to prevent a military coup after the US army killed Al-Qaeda’s Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad. It created trouble for President Asif Ali Zardari but he survived.
Panama papers exposed offshore entities stirred the pot for Nawaz Sharif in 2016 and eventually led to his ousting as the prime minister.
Without naming anybody, Moussavi alleged in an interview that an individual with Prime Minister Adviser on Accountability Shahzad Akbar who had met him in 2018 regarding a $1 billion bank account was more interested in getting a kickback than in investigating suspects. The meeting was held on the direction of Imran Khan, he added.
However, PM’s adviser rejected Moussavi’s claims and asserted that he met Broadsheet’s owner twice in 2019, not in 2018.
He said that the meeting was done to negotiate on the award price to be given to the company.

As the PML-N spokesperson, Maryam Aurangzeb quoted the Broadsheet owner’s interview and questioned why Shahzad Akbar held talks with the firm.
It was also pointed out that there was no agreement between the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Broadsheet.
The adviser was accused by PML-N that he demanded a kickback from the Broadsheet owner.
Meanwhile, ex-Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi accused that the government popped up the issue of Broadsheet media to undermine that NAB was penalized by the company. He raised the point that the accountability body was itself under question today.
The Broadsheet scandal has opened a can of worms and can be Panama or Memogate for the Prime Minister Imran Khan as well as PML-N Head Nawaz Sharif.
