Can Shahbaz Sharif Mend Fences in PML-N Sindh?

PML-N looks mired in difficulties as its party officials of Sindh chapter have resigned before the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) meeting in Karachi and it remains to be seen if the party’s president Shahbaz Sharif will be able to mend fences.
On Tuesday, former finance minister and senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Miftah Ismail stepped down as its provincial general secretary. He has sent the resignation to Shahbaz Sharif.
In a fission reaction, some 40 party officials of Sindh chapter have resigned today as well.

The resignations have come as a protest against no action against the miscreants who created bedlam at PML-N House in Karachi.
All resignations have been sent to PML-N Sindh President Shah Muhammad Shah.
Sources said the differences emerged between the supporters of Maryam Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif in the distribution of tickets for cantonment elections.
Meanwhile, PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif will reach Karachi on August 27, two days before the PDM rally on July 29.
However, it remains to be seen whether the vice-president will be able to placate the disgruntled party officials or the party’s supremo Nawaz Sharif will have to interfere.
Sources have also revealed that several officials of PML-N are unhappy over the participation of Shahbaz Sharif in PDM’s impending rally in Karachi instead of Maryam Nawaz.
Various factors have widened the division within the second-largest party in the national assembly (NA).
The absence of PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif from the scene after he absconded to London on the pretext of medical treatment is being considered the top factor.
