Cancer Patient Shahbaz Sharif Should Learn From Dr Yasmin

Despite battling a fatal disease, Dr Yasmin is doing the hard yards to get rid of the pathogen from Punjab

Two cancer patients in national politics including National Assembly (NA) Opposition Leader Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin have shown contrasting attitudes towards their portfolios.

Shahbaz Sharif is the president of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), the second-largest party in the lower house as well as the opposition leader while Dr Yasmin is serving as the health minister of most populated province of the country.

However, PML-N leader showed apathy amid the coronavirus crisis in Pakistan as he decided to fly to London for medical treatment after he was permitted by Lahore High Court (LHC) on May 7.

But the attempt remained futile as the immigration officials did not allow the opposition leader to aboard the flight to Doha citing system update issues despite Shahbaz showed them court’s orders.

In contrast, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid is also a cancer patient and currently under chemotherapy phase. As a result, she is suffering hair loss but it has not shaken her resolve to serve the country.

Despite battling a fatal disease, Dr Yasmin is doing the hard yards to get rid of the pathogen from her province.

Inversely, Shahbaz Sharif, who looks ‘fit’, wants to fly to London despite knowing that Pakistan is under UK’s travel red list amid pandemic.
