Recently, a tragic accident took place in Karachi, where a food delivery rider died in the elevator, and the Twitter users not only discussed but suggested the formulation of a policy for them along with basic facilities.
In a series of tweets, a user named Ammar Khan shared details of the heart-wrenching incident that took place in Karachi’s Clifton area.
Recently, an event happened in Karachi where a @foodpanda_pk rider died because the elevator did not arrive (he stepped in the void), and he did not have his phone to call for help, because the phone was kept as a deposit by a customer who gave him PKR 5000 to get change

Commenting further, he added that a life was lost owing to mismanagement on part of the delivery service.
Moreover, he said that the delivery men weren’t even insured and yet they are expected to deliver the order within time limit for merely earning Rs 30 on a single order.
A life lost because of mismanagement, and because someone was petty enough to keep a phone as a deposit. Delivery riders are among the most vulnerable. They get PKR 30 per delivery & are running against time. They do not have any life insurance, nor any health coverage

Soon after the tweet drew attention, the users sympathized with the deceased rider and demanded the concerned authorities to facilitate the workers-on-wheels.
And cut this fastest delivery crap too. Riders rnt just running against time but risking not only their lives but lives of several others on the road in a bid to meet the timeline. Normalise the delivery business and understand the reason of delay.

Some even suggested how the whole system of delivering at home could be improved and save many lives in the future.
Lets begin with applicable conditions while ordering through a delivery service which is a win-win for the customer, the delivery rider and its agency.
1) the delivery guy is hired to deliver the food at our doorstep. He is NOT a cashier. This needs a policy/*conditions>

applicable on COD which ensures the rider is not responsible to arrange the change. So, to a customer: kindly arrange the payable amount on your own.
2) Keep COD amount ready or be charged for every extra minute that the delivery guy is made to wait outside. His time is NOT at>

a customer’s disposal, especially at the risk of being mugged. When we call for a cab service at our doorstep, the amount is ticking while it waits outside.
So, it does begin with FoodPanda management/mismanagement in this case.
As for most of us, the day we (as citizens)>

In my experience food panda riders rarely have the appropriate amount of change. @foodpanda_pk should do something about it. Will avoid such tragic incidents in the future.

You’re supposed to pay the exact amount. They’re not required to carry change.
