A climate change expert Amna Shafqat has exposed the seriousness of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) by sharing her experience on social media.
Amna Shafqat wrote on Twitter, “Few years ago when I decided to come back to Pakistan cuz Watan ki Mohabbat, I took my CV to NDMA. The Chairman, a Maj-Gen in uniform saw my MS degree in Environmental Science [from Germany’s University of Cologne] and said ‘we only do post-disaster management, and all you have studied is pre-disaster climate change planning’.”
She added, “A follow-up story. After struggling to find a job for almost 18 months, unable to cope with stress and depression I went to a CMH psychiatrist. While I bawled my eyes out, the psychiatrist told me “but you have a husband, you should focus on your hubby instead of your career”
