Political Recruitments Overflow in Malir Development Authority

MDA-Political-Recruitment

Malir Development Authority (MDA), a development body of Karachi, had announced multiple vacancies but they fell prey to politics as several recruitments were carried out on a political basis.

As per the orders by the court, an entry test was made mandatory for grade-17 and above but many of the MDA officers have been found involved in hiring their relatives.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon has also been found involved in granting jobs to two of his family members.

Similarly, Arshad Khan, a designated grade-VII officer in Karachi Development Authority (KDA), has been holding occupying grade-19 errantly in MDA, in violation of the Supreme Court orders.

Arshad Khan has been allegedly involved in the political recruitment of a number of his family members in grade-14 and above positions.

The residents of district Malir have long been facing prejudice and around 150 employees of MDA fell prey to Arshad Khan’s bias.

Meanwhile, Director General (DG) MDA Nasir Khan was called on by the PPP leader and former National Assembly member (MNA) Abdul Hakim Baloch.

Abdul Hakim Baloch, while expressing concerns over the illegal political recruitments, maintained that according to by-laws of Malir Development Authority to recruit 75% of its employees from the district.

Around 1,600 MDA employees have been laid off recently amid coronavirus pandemic that has worsened their economic conditions, he added.

AS per the sources, the recent tests conducted by MDA through Sindh Testing Service (STS) tests also seem plotted as the selected candidates were not the residents of Malir district.

All of it happened due to the collusion among MDA officers, other local government officials, and STS staff, it added.

Abdul Hakeem Baloch maintained that the test results should be declared null and void and that too immediately.

An impartial test should be conducted once again under the basic law of MDA in which 75% of the employees have to be recruited from Malir district, lawmaker demanded.

Former MNA has also requested to reinstate the employees who were previously laid-off after years of service.
