Concerns of Imran Khan About TTP Rise Proving Legit

The prime minister has repeatedly emphasized stability in Afghanistan since the US withdrawal as he believes it to be equally important for stability in Pakistan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed concerns about the repercussions of instability in Afghanistan which was attested by the killing of Pakistani soldiers by TTP on Wednesday.

While speaking to CNN in an interview, Prime Minister Imran Khan stressed the west to cooperate with the new Taliban government which he termed vital for stability in the landlocked country.

He said that if it goes wrong in Afghanistan, things would go to chaos which he said Pakistan is worried about.

The prime minister has repeatedly emphasized stability in Afghanistan since the US withdrawal as he believes it to be equally important for stability in Pakistan.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has hideouts in the neighboring country, has reassembled since the pullout of foreign forces had begun in July.

It has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on Pakistan’s military forces and the latest clash with the group near the Afghan border took the lives of 7 personnel.

A military press release said a raid was conducted on a suspected terrorist hideout in South Waziristan on Wednesday.

At least 5 terrorists were also killed in the crossfire.

TTP also confirmed the armed clash with the Pakistani armed forces later on Wednesday.

Last week, the militant group had carried out a suicide bombing in Quetta in which at least 3 FC personnel were martyred and 20 people got injured.
