ISLAMABAD: The verbal fight between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government and the opposition on the no-confidence motion went beyond the threats to fighting and confrontation.
Leaders of the government and opposition parties are not only making statements against each other but also exchanging abusive remarks, pushing the situation to violence and chaos while the threats are being made on the basis of dissent.
Yesterday, PTI workers led by PTI MNA Faheem Khan and MNA Ataullah attacked Sindh House Islamabad in which the activists broke the main door of the building and held a protest inside there.
Police later took action and arrested more than a dozen of PTI MNAs and workers. Security of the Sindh House has been beefed up on the directive of IG Islamabad.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that PTI lawmakers who voted against Prime Minister Imran Khan would have to cross the one million crowd.
Talking to the media after the attack on Sindh House Islamabad, senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah said that if something like this happened after today, remember that even the houses of PTI assembly members are not safe.
He threatened in clear words that the stone would now be answered with stones. No member of the National Assembly can be prosecuted before voting.
On the other hand, PPP leader Sharjeel Memon said that we consider the attack on Sindh House as an attack on Sindh province. He said that if we wanted, the Tiger Force could have been washed away but we exhibited patience.
He said that Imran Khan had lost so he wanted to go for confrontation. PTI MNAs and workers had been carrying out terrorism in Sindh House for three to four hours but Islamabad police did nothing.
The PTI had earlier announced a rally on March 27 at D-Chowk in Islamabad, while PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shahbaz have called a rally on March 27 for their workers.
Analysts said that the situation which was feared to arise on March 27 due to the statements of the ministers and the counter-statements of the opposition was witnessed at Sindh House Islamabad today.
They added the political situation in the country has changed drastically after the emergence of a like-minded group in the PTI. Due to differences of opinion, the political situation is moving towards confrontation. It is being said that dissent in politics is the beauty of democracy but in the present situation is something else.
Analysts said that if this situation continues, the political temperature may rise further.
A few days ago, Islamabad police launched an action at Parliament Lodges, which was considered to be the biggest attempt to tarnish the image of parliament. The House was attacked with systematic planning, which indicates that politics is moving towards confrontation. They said that in order to save the country from political confrontation, politicians should immediately postpone their March 27 meeting following the advice of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
