KARACHI: No respite for Karachi citizens as coordinated robberies are on the rise after another incident of dacoity was reported near Cantt Station in which a businessman was looted by four armed robbers.
Armed robbers have looted Rs35 million from a goldsmith after surrounded him in Daud Pota Underpass near Cantt Station of Karachi on Wednesday when he was travelling in an auto riskshaw.
It emerged that the goldsmith came out of a shop which appeared to be an incident of coordinated robbery as an insider colluded with robbers to snatch the cash he was travelling with. Police registered First Information Report (FIR) of the case.

It is not the first coordinated robbery reported in Karachi as a few days ago, a citizen was looted by the well-dressed dacoits at his doorstep. Surprisingly, the armed dacoits were fully informed about the cash he had hid inside his socks after withdrawing it from a bank.
The CCTV footage of the incident that took place in Karachi’s DHA 7 showed that dacoits took less than a couple of minutes to take out cash from inside the citizen’s socks and fled from the scene.
In January, a Hindu trader had been killed for resisting robbery who came from Daharki to Karachi. He came out of a bank near Clifton’s Shawn Circle and later besieged by the armed robbers. They looted Rs7.2 million from the trader and fled from the scene.
In another incident of coordinated robbery, a former navy officer had been shot by robbers who came out of Safoora branch of the same Islamic bank after withdrawing Rs6.2 million cash. Luckily, the former navy officer survived the attack despite getting injured by firing.
Street crimes thrive as three Karachi citizens killed in a day
In November, a citizen was seriously wounded for resisting robbery in Architect Society located in Gulistan-e-Johar Block 8 after he reached the doorsteps of his house after withdrawing cash from a bank. In the same month, a female citizen had been chased by robbers when she came out of a bank.
The robbers looted Rs50,000 cash and her mobile phone and easily managed to flee from the scene.
A large number of Karachi citizens became victims of coordinated robberies who went to the branches of an Islamic bank. However, police did not launch a thorough probe despite back-to-back incidents of coordinated robberies.
