‘Country may break into three pieces’: PPP, PML-N slam Imran Khan’s statement

Yesterday, former prime minister Imran Khan warned that if the establishment did not take the right decision then Pakistan would break into three parts.

ISLAMABAD: The ruling parties, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have slammed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s statement regarding the division of the country into three pieces.

Yesterday, former prime minister Imran Khan, during an interview to Bol News’ Sami Ibrahim,  warned that if the establishment did not take the right decision then Pakistan would break into three parts.

The former prime minister, who was ousted through a no-confidence motion earlier this year, said the current political situation was a problem for the country as well as the establishment.

“If the establishment doesn’t make the right decisions then I can assure in writing that they and the army will be destroyed because what will become of the country if it goes bankrupt,” he said.

“Pakistan is going towards a default. If that happens then which institution will be [worst] hit? The army. After it is hit, what concession will be taken from us? Denuclearisation.”

“If the right decisions aren’t made at this time then the country is going towards suicide,” he warned.

“Indian think tanks abroad are mulling to separate Balochistan, they have plans, this is why I am putting pressure,” Khan said.

Responding to his statement, PM Shehbaz Sharif censured Khan, “While I am in Turkey inking agreements, Imran Niazi is making naked threats against the country. If at all any proof was needed that Niazi is unfit for public office, his latest interview suffices. Do your politics but don’t dare to cross limits & talk about division of Pakistan.”

PPP co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari told a private news channel that no Pakistani could even think about the division of Pakistan and Imran Khan is now using the language of Indian premier Narendra Modi.

He said that anyone’s wishes to split Pakistan into three pieces will not be fulfilled in presence of them and their generations.

In the same interview, Imran Khan spoke about the no-confidence voting day, saying that history never forgives anyone and on that day, Pakistan’s institutions were damaged a lot. He said he had clearly told the ‘neutrals’ that PTI’s economic progress will be destroyed if his government is removed via conspiracy.

He then ruled out the possibility of returning to the National Assembly as it would be akin to accepting the conspiracy.
