Journalist Cyril Almeida has raised serious questions after the gun attack on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan during the long march.
In a series of tweets, Cyril Almeida left clues to what he was talking about the comparison between the past and present political events in Pakistan.
He wrote in a tweet, “There is great rage in Pakistan just now.” He then said, “Seems a replay of BB [Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairperson Benazir Bhutto’s] assassination.”

Later, he pointed towards a series of press conferences including an unusual presser before the event happened in the PTI long march in the shape of Imran Khan’s assassination attempt. He said, “After the big guns failed to dent IK, actual guns were brought out.”

He reminded that the late Benazir Bhutto had survived an assassination attempt in Oct and she got killed in another deadly attack in December.
On October 18 – 2007, the Karsaz bombing attack occurred in Karachi on a motorcade carrying former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
On December 27 – 2007, Bhutto was murdered by a 15-year-old suicide bomber called Bilal. She had just finished an election rally in Rawalpindi when he approached her convoy, shot at her and blew himself up. Bilal had been asked to carry out the attack by the Pakistani Taliban.
He then wrote in other tweets, “Everyone will believe exactly what they already believed. Almeida questioned, “Has anyone ever been attacked when they aren’t fighting against them?”

The journalist said that the press conference looks like a historic error now. “PPP learned from the attacks against BB, has a bombproof, bulletproof truck to protect Bilawal… perhaps give it to IK when he resumes his march,” Almeida said.
“Noonies and jiyalas so loathed IK’s rhetoric against PMLN and PPP that they have decided to sound exactly like PTI and worse.” “Tonight, a toast to IK surviving… enough of this, it’s 2022, whatever party, whichever side, whatever politics – enough of killing and attacking civilians… a better Pak, a peaceful Pak must arrive.”

The journalist asked the nationals, “Day 7: rise up, they will kill you otherwise,” adding, “Day 7 was near catastrophic, Day 8 should bring better tidings.”

Analysts said that Almeida pointed out the similarities in major political events of the past and present after Imran Khan took a strong stand on his narrative and later he faced assassination attempts.
