Despite all odds, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf wins NA-193 Rajanpur by-elections

NA-193 Rajanpur One seat fell vacant after death of PTI leader Sardar Jafar Khan Laghari for which a by-election was held on Sunday as scheduled

Mohsin Laghari of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won the NA-193 Rajanpur by-election, securing more votes than the 2018 general elections, maintaining his party’s success. (PMLN) suffered a crushing defeat. According to media reports, the administration showed partiality during the voting.

According to the unofficial unofficial results of the by-elections held on Sunday, PTI’s Mohsin Leghari has been declared successful with 90 thousand 392 votes, while his closest rival Pakistan Muslim League (N)’s Amar Leghari has secured 55 thousand 218. Received votes. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) came third and its candidate Akhtar Hasan got 20,074 votes.

This seat fell vacant due to the death of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Sardar Mohammad Jafar Khan Laghari in December 2022, for which a by-election was held yesterday as per the schedule.

On the success of PTI’s Mohsin Laghari, Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan shared a message on the social media website Twitter and wrote that “People have proved in all the by-elections held in the last ten months that the vote The power of is now only with Imran Khan and today #Jampur_By-Election has once again been won by #Awam.

Voting in the constituency started at the scheduled time of 8 am which continued till 5 pm without any break. Polling was peaceful, with no untoward incident reported. The turnout was 47.15 percent.

In videos shared by the Election Commission of Pakistan, a large number of voters can be seen gathered inside the polling stations.

A total of 11 candidates participated in the NA-193 Rajanpur by-election, but the main contest was between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) candidate Amar Owais Leghari and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Mohsin Leghari.

237 polling stations have been set up in the constituency, out of which 68 have been declared as sensitive. 2650 policemen have been deployed to deal with any untoward situation while Rangers and army personnel have also been patrolling the area.

Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had accused the district administration of non-cooperation in holding by-elections in constituency NA-193 Rajanpur.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has written a letter to the Chief Secretary Punjab to file a complaint against the district administration’s non-cooperation in the NA-193 Rajanpur by-election.

In the 2018 general elections, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Sardar Mohammad Jafar Khan Laghari secured 81 thousand 149 votes, while his nearest rival and independent candidate Sardar Sher Ali Khan Gurchani secured 55 thousand 409 votes.

Shazia Abid of Pakistan People’s Party was on the third place, she got 27 thousand 710 votes.
